A primary school teacher died tonight at Bedford Lane, Bush Hall, St Michael following a shooting, which left one other man injured.
Dwight Holder died on the spot while his cousin John Leach was rushed to the hospital with two gun shot wounds.
Yvette Holder, the aunt of the two men was in shock as she recalled how the incident unfolded just after 11pm.
“I was in bed sitting down and I just hear gunshots. Then I hear my nephew said ‘you believe I just get shoot’,” Holder told Barbados TODAY.
“Then he said ‘would you believe that Dwight get shoot and I feel he dead because Dwight there flat on his face on the ground,’ that was it.”
Holder said that Leach who had a bullet in the back of his neck and one to the knee was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The woman, who recently lost her mother, said she was puzzled by the senseless incident, insisting that her nephews were not involved in any wrongdoing.
“They don’t trouble anybody. They are usually just outside playing dominoes.”
“I just can’t believe that he [Dwight] gone so then. He doesn’t do anybody anything.”
Holder was a teacher at the Half Moon Fort Primary School in St Lucy.
