A second Surinamese national, nabbed here with drugs, has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison, Dodds.
Earlier this week, 24-year-old Guillamo Gilberto Reingoud appeared in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 18 months in jail after he was caught with a kilo of cocaine.
Yesterday, 21-year-old Rakada Chernaya Klaverweida was sentenced to 12 months in prison after she pleaded guilty in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court to charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of 250 grammes of cocaine.
Klaverweida and Reingoud had both arrived here last Saturday on a Trinidad flight and were interviewed by police after clearing Immigration. Both were referred to the hospital where Reingoud passed out the kilo of cocaine, in 86 packages, while Klaverweida passed out 24 packages containing the ingested illegal substance.
