Police are on the scene at Jordan, St George where the body of a woman has been discovered.
The discovery was reportedly made by a team of fire officers who responded to a blaze at Constant, St George after noon.
Acting Public Relations Officer Station Sergeant Roland Cobbler said the woman’s partially naked body was spotted in a grassy area next to the roadway.
He said the name of the victim — said to be between the ages of 40 and 50 — was being withheld at this time. However, Barbados TODAY understands that the deceased woman, whose death is being treated as unnatural, is the sister of a senior police officer.
Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith was among those gathered at the scene this afternoon and he expressed condolences to the family of the victim. He also pledged to go after the perpetrator or perpetrators.
Lawmen are also appealing to anyone with information about her death to contact the police hotline at 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, or the nearest police station.
