A Lower Estate, St George, home has been thrown into mourning following the brutal slaying last night of one of their own at the Zanzi Bar Club on Nelson Street, the City.

Forty-three- year old Christopher Callender, who was employed as a part-time bouncer at the Club, was stabbed multiple times about the body and his throat was slit by an unknown assailant while on duty around 11:00 p.m. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) where he died during surgery.

He leaves behind two sons, 19-year-old Shane Moore and 20-year-old Torian Moore.

Speaking to Barbados TODAY from their Lower Estate Home, their mother, Mary Moore, said: “Everybody has their faults but Christopher was a friendly person.

“I cannot understand why anyone would want to kill him in this brutal way.  This is just a part-time job which he did three nights a week. He really held another job at a printery on Roebuck Street.”

The boys’ aunt, Sandra James who lives at Ashby Alley, the City, said she too, could not understand why Callender met his demise in this way.

Two other men, Peter Jordan of Princess Royal Avenue, Pinelands, St Michael and Rico Eugene of King William Street, the City were also stabbed multiple times.

Reports indicate that Jordan remains in critical condition at the QEH, while Eugene has been treated and discharged.
