One man is dead and three others believed to be responsible for his murder are in police custody, following a high-speed chase that crossed two parishes today.
The series of events began in Vaughn’s Land No. 1, St Joseph around 11:50 a.m. with the shooting death of 38-year-old David Miller.
David Miller was fatally shot in his St Joseph neighbourhood Thursday morning.
He was walking along the road when he was confronted by a number of men. A dispute ensued, shots were fired and Miller was hit several times in the chest.
“He was shot in his upper body [and] died at the scene,” Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch confirmed in a brief statement.
Shortly after the incident lawmen, acting on information they received, went on the hunt for Miller’s attackers and intercepted the suspects in a grey Nissan Sunny in Farley Hill, St Peter.

A high-speed chase ensued but it ended not too far away in Benny Hall, St Peter, when the vehicle carrying the three men believed to be involved in Miller’s shooting crashed.
They were all injured. They complained about lacerations and bruises about their body and were detained by police as they waited for ambulances to transport them to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Two were taken to the QEH in separate ambulances, under police guard, shortly after the accident.

A third man spent several minutes lying on his right side in the middle of the road, with his hands cuffed behind his back, as police investigated the scene.
The overturned getaway car was a few metres away from the suspect.
He was subsequently removed when a third ambulance arrived. Minutes later, two sniffer dogs from the Canine Unit were led to the scene by police.

Officers from the Special Services Unit (SSU), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), nine police vehicles including canine vehicles and two unmarked jeeps, as well as four ambulances were also on the scene.
Up to late this evening, there was a heavy police presence at the QEH as the suspects remained there receiving treatment.
The investigations into Miller’s death, meantime, continue.
