PRESS RELEASE
Police continue to maintain their vigilance at the Ports of entry with a view to continue their interdictory focus. The following arrests were made between the 25th and 26th of October 2013
JAMAICAN NATIONAL ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENCES
Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Jamaican national Lamar Omar Osbourne, 28 years for the offences of:
- Possession of 1 ½ lbs of cannabis
- Possession with intent to supply – cannabis
- Trafficking cannabis; and
- Importation of cannabis.
Osbourne arrived by air from Jamaica on 25 October 2013, and cleared Immigration and Customs. He was intercepted, and interviewed by Drug Squad personnel on the outside of the Arrivals Hall. He was referred to the QEH, where he later passed 68 packages of cannabis weighting 1 ½ lbs which he had ingested.
Osbourne is expected to appear at the District B Magistrate Court today Monday 28 October 2013.
TRINIDADIAN NATIONAL ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENCES
Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Tobagonian Nerry Beryl Joefield, 40 years for the offences of:
- Possession of 4 lbs of cocaine
- Possession with intent to supply – cocaine
- Trafficking cocaine; and
- Importation of cocaine.
Joefield arrived by air from Trinidad about 8.30pm on 26 October 2013, was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel and referred to Customs. A search of her luggage revealed a false bottom containing the 4 lbs of cocaine.
Joefield is expected to appear at the District B Magistrate today Monday 28 October 2013.
